What’s
News January 2010?
Deli-cious...
Have
you wondered what all the movement is at the back of the shop? Many of
you may not have even noticed the shuffling about of drinks, soya milks
and snack bars, or the gnashing of teeth and wringing of co-operative
hands. But it is not all in vain or designed to make you hunt for your
favourite product. Oh no...we have been busy planning an exciting new
deli area, with the main focus being on local, organic and artisan delicacies
to tantalise your taste buds. Goodies we’ve found so far include:
a fabulous range of fresh olives; locally made vegan and veggie pâtés
and pestos; hand-made organic hummous; zingy stuffed chillies and dreamy
local cream cheese. Watch this space. Well not this one, the one at the
back of the shop!
VAT
back to 17.5%
Sorry. Blame our wonderful government, not us. VAT has returned to its
pre-recession 17.5%, which means prices have risen on vatable items in
the shop and café. It will take some time to replace price labels
in the shop so please bare with us - it’s a tiresome job and will
mean that the price you get charged may differ from the price on the shelf.
The VAT increase will affect all bodycare items, medicines, gifts and
a few other bits and bobs.
Big
Brother (or small sister?)
We have a brand spanking new CCTV system, with 23 cameras strategically
placed around the shop and café. It is not something we’ve
entered into lightly, but after annual losses from theft of approximately
£10,000, we felt we had no choice but to splash out on this very
expensive piece of kit. Each camera records activity 24 hours a day, in
full colour and recordings can be used as evidence to secure a prosecution.
