Eighth Day Café recycles all of its spent oil and have been for over a year now. Whenever the fryer is emptied, the gunky brown stuff is stored in large plastic drums until it is collected by a local company called 'Fat Solutions' who clean and process the oil and turn it into a very efficient and eco-friendly fuel called 'Bio Power'. It can be used in cars, vans, boats, and even generators. There's loads of info, quotes and links on the Bio Power website: http://www.bio-power.co.uk.

Mr. 'Fat Solutions' is off to Spain for a month, having been commissioned by the Spanish Government to lead a team in setting up a bio-diesel plant. We'll have more info on this later in the year. In the meantime we wish him luck and hope his enthusiasm rubs off onto interested parties here in the UK.
