How to protect your skin in the sun
If you're spending time outdoors this summer remember to look after your skin. Follow the self-care steps below which may offer protection whilst you enjoy the sunshine.
Block harsh rays by wearing protective clothing and frequently apply sun cream with a high SPF. Apply topical antioxidants to your skin--open a pycnogenol capsule and mix into your usual moisturiser (use a formula containing 2% Vitamin E, 5% Vitamin C or 10% green tea polyphenols for extra protection). Add antioxidants to your supplement programme as they defend your body against harmful UV rays; 2000-3000 mg Vitamin C, 1000-2000 iu Vitamin E, 6 mg Natural Beta-carotene and 6 mg of Lycopene would be beneficial during periods of high sun exposure. Eat plenty of red and orange fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant content. Choose natural sun-screens and moisturisers. If you need any advice ask our skin-care expert, Jen.
