Eighth Day are delighted to welcome four new members to the co-op; Emma, Lynne, Lewis and Dave. Last edition, the café were pleased to welcome long-standing Eighth Day worker Dave to the café. After 7 years toil, he finally decided to take the plunge and join the co-op. When asked why he wanted to join he said "all I can say is that was then... and this is now!" All we can say, is thank goodness for that! Lewis, Emma and Lynne are currently going through their probationary membership period. Lynne is our baby of the bunch, a mere 20 years old. She is also our resident Scot and has worked for us for a couple of years whilst attaining her degree in complimentary medicine. Lynne hopes to pursue a career in community nutrition, but only after she's worked for us for a "very long time first!" Of course… Emma is a 25 year old photographer, and comes to us from the Royal Exchange. You may have met Emma on the deli-counter; she loves good food and her claim to fame is that she has used just about every item from the skin and body care range at Eighth Day! Her reasons for joining are that she really wanted to experience being part of a co-operative. Lewis is our latest entrée to the café. His reasons for joining Eighth Day are mainly due to "the lovely people who work here!". Lewis has had a varied background. Amongst other things he has been an electrician, a politics student at University and lived in a Buddhist Monastery for a few years. Throughout his varied career he has always enjoyed cooking and we're sure he'll be making some tasty additions to the café menu.
