Eighth Day's C.A.T.

For those of you who don't know, as a co-operative business, Eighth Day's mission statement is this...

So far, C.A.T has been looking at supporting Fair Trade by having a fair trade stall in Piccadilly gardens, one Saturday a month, starting Saturday 3rd September. Eighth Day have also been making links this month with a group of Chinese Foreign Exchange students, giving them a history of co-op life and  sharing the Mancunian eighth day history.  We are also currently having talks with Oxfam about looking for ways we can work together on the Make Poverty History Campaign. We'll be keeping  you informed of all our CAT projects over the year, and if you feel you have any projects which you think would be suitable for our CAT then get in touch…

Contact Tim, Brenda or Janet@ Eighth Day for further details about the CAT.

"To encourage the optimum health of its customers and staff by providing quality vegetarian food and advice while maintaining a caring, sustainable, democratic and ethical business environment for its workers"

As a business Eighth Day has 13 business aims, which help to shape the structure, development and direction of the business in line with the overall mission statement. The Eighth Day CAT (Community Action Team) has been set up to meet the final original business aim of involving ourselves more in the wider community by devoting resources to expand links with the community.  For Eighth Day the wider community really is wide and it includes the co-op communities, ethical food and health food business communities, vegetarian and organic communities as well as our local and very own Eighth Day community, customers included.  The CAT aims to get involved in projects and activities which forge links with these groups and  help to promote and support others in their work where it reinforces campaigns and events which are in line with Eighth Day values.
