Exhibitons
in the Café
September
and October 2007
Christopher
Samuel Lench is an artist and musician based in South Manchester.
This showing at 8th Day Café is Christopher's first solo exhibition
and features a variety of his works including canvases, photos and collages.
Influenced by the likes of Dubuffet and Kandinsky, there are elements
of chance and nature in his art. In addition Christopher uses a wide range
of media to create tactile textures, including oils, inks, biro, tea,
coffee, ash, sand, mud, grass and paper. On closer inspection Christopher's
work is made up entirely of tangible objects, people, places and situations.
One of his main ideologies is that a good piece of art should reward the
viewer each time that they look at it.

The exhibition
runs from mid September to mid October
John
Hamilton has been a member of Rogue Artists' Studios since the
opening in 1995. He has exhibited widely across the UK and USA and has
work in private collections in the UK, Germany, Australia and USA. John
says, "My work is made up of paintings, drawings and prints depicting
figures in various disguises or costumes. They centre around figures in
(mis)adventurous situations. There is a continuous theme of role-play,
with a theatrical element. They are sometimes story-based, and are always
told with a touch of humour and a sense of loyalty."
The exhibition
runs from mid October.
We have
new art exhibitions in our café every month giving local artists
a chance to display their work. If you would like the opportunity to
display your paintings pop downstairs and ask for Jane in the café for
more info. If you've had lunch in the café and a piece has caught
your eye why not drop in during our quieter time after the lunch time
rush and have a leisurely coffee and browse.
